The staring contest is over. Jimmy Rollins will be putting on the only major league uniform he's ever known come April 5 in Pittsburgh.

According to reports, first from ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Phillies have inked their long-time shortstop to a three-year, $33 million deal. The contract includes a vesting option for a fourth year, likely tied to games played or plate appearances.

Rollins, a free agent for the first time in his career, was limited to 230 games in the last two seasons, including a career-low 88 games in 2010 due to leg injuries. If he's healthy, Rollins can make his new contract a four-year deal.

Rollins' recent spell of health combined with his age (he turned 33 last month) likely hurt his chances to get the five-year deal he asked for just after he filed for free agency earlier this offseason.

After a flurry of activity with shortstops moving before, at and just after the winter meetings - with Jose Reyes, Alex Gonzalez and Rafael Furcal all finding landing spots - it was Rollins and Rollins alone as the remaining, legit, starting shortstop on the market. And the Phillies were the last team ready and able to invest money into a starting shortstop.

Believed to be on path to continue their relationship all along, Rollins and the Phillies made it official Saturday. Although the team has not made comment or announced the deal, Rollins sounded off on Twitter.

"I see you all know by now," Rollins wrote. "Gotta deal with me for 3 (4) more years!"
