One of the great things about Charlie Manuel is his ability to stay even keel.

In good win streaks and bad, when players are slumping or when they're raking, he doesn't get too high or too low.

With that said, he made some comments prior to tonight's game in St. Louis that could be used as good advice for people who are already ordering their Roy Oswalt Phillies jerseys (the website wouldn't let me put in #44).

Relax. There is no deal done yet. Don't set yourself up for possible disappointment.

Here's what Manuel, who dealt with these same rumors a year ago, said today:

"This time of the year everyone talks – general managers, scouts – that’s part of it. Every year it's going to happen. I try not to let it bother me until we're right down to it. Until it's 'Hey, we've got a trade.' That’s when you look at it. Because a lot of things go into a trade. just like the Yankees thought the had one, just because it was all over TV that they had (Cliff) Lee, and then all of a sudden they didn't have him at all. Until the guy shows up, that's when we know I have him."
